Jesus Is Real | Part 1 | Pastor Tom Golden

One Sentence Sermon: Jesus Is Real: Not a Cheap Counterfeit Copy Cat

In the first installment of the "Jesus is Real" series, we delve into the authenticity of Jesus Christ as the genuine article. Drawing from Luke 9:18-20, we witness Jesus posing a critical question to his disciples: "Who do people say I am?" This inquiry, however, transcends mere speculation as Jesus further probes, "But what about you? Who do you say I am?" The answer to this question holds profound significance, for it reveals Jesus as the Messiah, the Resurrection, and the Savior of the world.

The narrative surrounding Jesus in Luke's Gospel paints a vivid picture of his authenticity. His miraculous deeds and profound teachings leave observers astounded, prompting Herod himself to express a desire to witness these wonders firsthand. Yet, Jesus's authenticity extends beyond the realm of spectacle; it encompasses the essence of his being as the embodiment of grace and truth.

In a world teeming with counterfeit offerings of joy and fulfillment, Jesus stands as the epitome of authenticity. While the enemy may seek to ensnare us with illusions of happiness, Jesus offers genuine and lasting joy. Matthew 7:13-14 warns against the allure of counterfeit joy, urging us to seek the narrow gate that leads to true fulfillment in Christ.

Moreover, the parable found in Matthew 13:45-46 illustrates the incomparable value of encountering Jesus. Once we taste the richness of his presence, we are compelled to seek more, for nothing else can satisfy our deepest longings.

As we embark on this journey of discovering the reality of Jesus, let us cast aside the distractions of counterfeit joy and fix our gaze upon the true source of abundant life. Regardless of where we find ourselves on life's journey, we can rest assured that Jesus is not a mere imitation but the genuine article, offering us salvation, joy, and eternal hope.
