What’s Greater Than Your Future Plans? | Pastor Dave McNeely

In a thought-provoking sermon titled "What's Greater Than Your Future Plans?" delivered by Guest Pastor Dave McNeely, we were reminded of the power of God's provision amidst life's challenges. Drawing from the narrative of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-18, Pastor McNeely emphasized the significance of listening for God's voice in the gentle whisper, rather than being consumed by the noisy distractions of the world.

He highlighted how isolation and loneliness can magnify the negative voices within us, leading us astray from God's purpose. Through examples from Psalm 42 and personal reflections, the pastor underscored the importance of prayer and seeking God's presence, especially during times of weariness and fatigue.

Central to the message was the idea that God's provision exceeds our understanding and expectations. Even when we feel depleted and alone, God is ready to pour into our lives and provide for our needs. This provision, Pastor McNeely stressed, is not contingent on our circumstances but on our obedience and faith in God's promises.

In closing, we were encouraged to draw closer to God, positioning ourselves to hear His whisper and receive His abundant provision. Through obedience and faith, we were reminded that God is faithful to provide for all our needs, offering hope and assurance in every season of life.

Bible Verses:

1 Kings 19:11-18
God Speaks to Elijah
11
So the angel said, “Go and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And the Lord passed by. A strong wind tore through the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord. But the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind the earth shook. But the Lord was not in the shaking of the earth. 12 After the earth shook, a fire came. But the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a sound of gentle blowing. 13 When Elijah heard it, he put his coat over his face, and went out and stood at the opening of the hole. Then a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 He said, “I have been very careful to serve the Lord, the God of All. For the people of Israel have turned away from Your agreement. They have torn down Your altars. And they have killed with the sword the men who speak for You. Only I am left, and they want to kill me.”
15 The Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the desert of Damascus. When you get there, set apart Hazael to be the king of Syria. 16 Set apart Nimshi’s son Jehu to be the king of Israel. And set apart Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah to speak for God in your place. 17 Jehu will kill the one who gets away from the sword of Hazael. Elisha will kill the one who gets away from the sword of Jehu. 18 But I will leave 7,000 in Israel whose knees have not bowed down in front of Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”

Psalm 42:1
42 As the deer desires rivers of water, so my soul desires You, O God.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10
9
The Holy Writings say, “No eye has ever seen or no ear has ever heard or no mind has ever thought of the wonderful things God has made ready for those who love Him.” 10 God has shown these things to us through His Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit Who looks into all things, even the secrets of God, and shows them to us.

1 Thessalonians 5:24
24 The One Who called you is faithful and will do what He promised.
